SideKick V2 Portable Herb Vaporizer:

The SideKick V2 is the latest version of this portable herb vaporizer, featuring significantly longer battery life and tighter fitting parts.

Built by 7th Floor Vapes with the same care and quality as their flagship Silver Surfer Vaporizer. No plastic in the airpath, a ceramic heater, and non-restricted airflow that draws as naturally as a desktop unit.

The SideKick warms up and stays hot from when you turn it on until you turn it off or it times out. For better battery life, turn the unit off manually after a few hits. Two sets of batteries on rotation with the included charging station is recommended.

Features variable temperature control with digital display, removable vortex cooler insert, built-in stir tool, hand-blown glass mouthpiece, replaceable batteries, aluminum housing, and a ceramic heater. Included charger has two settings: 0.5A for longer battery life and 1A for faster charging.

Using the SideKick V2

Prepare the Herbs:

Break up or grind your herbs with a grinder, scissors, or your fingers. Make sure the herbs are broken up and fluffy before loading.

Pack the Bowl:

Grab the top lid in front of the gear next to the mouthpiece and pull up at a slight angle away from the mouthpiece. Load your bowl to about the middle of the silicone with ground herbs. Pack gently — not too firm. You need room to stir the bowl and allow the herbs to move. To replace the lid, turn the gear tool furthest away from the mouthpiece, hold the lid at a 45 degree angle, set the notch back in the hole, and you will feel the magnets grab.

Powering On and Off:

Press the power button for 2 seconds to turn the SideKick on. The logo will light up and the main screen will appear. Press the power button for 2 seconds again to turn it off. The SideKick automatically shuts off after 7 minutes to conserve battery power.

Selecting the Heat Setting:

The SideKick is adjustable across 22 temperature points from 248°F to 455°F. Press the up or down button to select your desired setting, then press the power button once. The current temperature will begin to rise and the unit will vibrate when it reaches the set temperature. The LCD screen also displays battery life, battery voltage, and session time.

Inhale and Stir:

Pull up on the mouthpiece to adjust the air pathway to a comfortable length. The SideKick uses a hybrid conduction and convection heating system, which means it is always heating your herbs when the heater is on. Stir the bowl slowly whenever you are not inhaling to vape your herbs evenly and prevent overcooking. Use the built-in gear stir tool by spinning it forward or backward with your thumb. Do not stir while inhaling as herbs may slip past the screen. About halfway through a bowl, remove the lid and press the herbs down lightly to keep vapor thick.

Vortex Cooler:

The vortex cooler and pull-out glass mouthpiece extend the vapor path to nearly 11 inches from the bowl. To access the vapor path, remove the battery cover and silicone vapor path connector. Looking at the bottom with batteries on the left, cooling tube #1 is on the far left and cooling tube #2 is to the right. The vortex cooler ships inserted in tube #1. You can remove it to reduce air restriction, or freeze it for 30 minutes for a cooler vapor experience lasting about one bowl. Clean the top of the vortex cooler regularly as this is the first spot to clog.

Safety Warning:

Failure to follow these safety recommendations could result in serious injury or property damage.

  • SideKick components get sufficiently hot to cause burns during operation. Never touch the ceramic heater or surrounding metal. Allow the unit to cool before touching any internal components.
  • Keep out of reach of children and away from pets. Never leave unattended near children.
  • Keep away from combustibles including paper, fabric, and plastic.
  • Never let hair or loose clothing contact the heat source.

Cleaning Your SideKick:

How to Disassemble for Cleaning

  • Remove the top and bottom lids and set the batteries aside. Unscrew and set aside the screen and stir tool using the included screwdriver.
  • Pull the mouthpiece all the way out.
  • Remove the silicone vapor path connector.
  • From the top of the SideKick, push down on the vortex cooler with a pick or screwdriver until it slides out the bottom. As it comes out it will scrape residue from the vapor path tube walls.
  • Using a pick, pop out the silicone plug on the front just below the air intake holes.
  • Brush away larger debris from all disassembled pieces using the included brush.
  • Soak the top lid, screen, stir tool, vortex cooler, and mouthpiece in alcohol for about an hour. Wipe down with a cloth and allow to dry completely before reassembling.
  • Wipe the two silicone pieces, bottom lid, ceramic bowl, and housing with a cloth lightly dampened with alcohol. Do not soak silicone in alcohol as it can warp.
  • Clean the vapor path tubes by dabbing the round brush in alcohol and wiping inside the tubes from both the top and bottom openings.
  • Once all parts are clean and completely dry, reassemble in reverse order.

Changing the Screen:

Unscrew the screw holding the screen to the top lid and replace with a new screen.

Battery Care:

The SideKick V2 uses one 18650 battery. Charge fully before first use. Follow all battery warnings and charging directions included with the batteries and charger.

Batteries last longer when not used hard while hot. Both charging and using the vaporizer generate heat. Do not use the vaporizer if it is hot from sun exposure — let it cool first. Do not begin charging when the battery is still hot from use. Use the 0.5A slow charge setting to extend battery life. Cap batteries when not in use — the included silicone battery cap prevents shorting, fire, or explosion.

Tips and Hints:

  • Start at a low temperature. If you see no vapor, increase slightly, wait 30 seconds, and try again. Repeat until vapor is visible on exhale.
  • If airflow feels restricted, make sure herbs are not packed too tightly. Stir with the included pick to loosen.
  • Clean or replace your screen regularly. Clogged screens restrict airflow and reduce vapor quality.
  • Drawing faster cools the air over the heating element, producing lighter vapor. Drawing slower produces denser vapor. If combustion occurs, turn down the temperature or draw slightly faster. If vapor is thin, turn up the temperature or draw slightly slower.
  • With a little experimentation you will find your preferred temperature and draw rate for thick, flavorful vapor every session.
